Review of the Angel Association in St Peter’s Ward 2011
- Major developments in the Ward came on stream – the new Academy in Prebend Street and the first tenants moving back onto the rebuilt Packington estate. We have worked closely with the local authority to try to ensure that these two new developments work for everyone in the Ward. There are some issues still to resolve – for example what kind of shops will be in the Packington Estate frontage onto Prebend Street. But we welcome the dynamism that these big new developments are bringing to the Ward.
- We have warmly welcomed the completion of the road works along Upper Street at the Angel which have reduced street clutter and made the road space much more pedestrian friendly. And committee members have contributed to the appeal of the area near Camden Passage by “adopting” a couple of sad and neglected flower beds outside Toni and Guy. Hope you like the results!
- We also welcome the establishment of the Ward Partnership meetings with our local councillors. It is early days yet but we think these meetings have the potential for enabling all of us to engage very directly with local politicians on issues important to all of us.
- We have had two social events for members this year and have very much enjoyed meeting members old and new and hearing about your issues and concerns at first hand. We will continue to organise socials and other events – eg committee member David Webb’s very popular talks on antiques and local history. For more details of forthcoming events see Upcoming events.
